About Me

I am an over-50 mom of an atypical kiddo and much of this blog contains tips on inclusivity and support, from a mom receiving daily lessons from of a wonderful neuro-divergent soul. While worth every second, it also constantly challenges me to be better.

Speaking from experience this also can be a lonely journey — but it doesn’t have to be. For parents like us, our inner lives are so filled with endless tedious details, boundless desires to help our loved ones, and our own unmet needs that we constantly shove aside. How to begin to share all that heaviness with others? Right? On top that — these are trying, historically dark times and the big picture affects my little picture, as it does many of us, everyday.

I’ve learned from other Parents like us, that we can share that load and help each other both virtually and in real life. Social media, doctor office lobbies and even elementary school drop-off - has helped me to connect with like minded ones. We can share our best practices and develop tribal knowledge. This life has transformed me into a light-chaser — finding and sharing those bridges to the light, aiming to mindfully bask in it for authenticity and solace.

This Two Wolves Native American parable characterizes the journey of these writings for me:

An old chief was teaching his grandson about life…“A fight is going on inside my heart,” he said to the boy.“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.

“One is evil – he is anger, envy, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, self-doubt.

“The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. This same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”

The old chief simply replied, “The one you feed.”

These writings feed the wolf that brings me light and aim to share some of that light with you.
